Strips of high-grade red cedar are kiln dried before being joined together by hand and encapsulated in fiberglass, bonded in place with epoxy resin, and finally coated with marine varnish. This combination of fiberglass and epoxy is very strong and completely transparent so that the beauty of the wood will be appreciated and protected for generations. Each canoe typically takes 500 hours or more to build, and goes through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. Centuries old methods combined with the latest techniques takes it from an average canoe to a true work of craftsmanship.
