The America's Cup - America Yacht from Everything Nautical is the perfect piece to complete your model ship collection.
This beautiful handcrafted model ship commemorates the first winner of the international sailing trophy presented in the 19th century. The America, which was named after the trophy itself, the America’s Cup, was an impressive vessel designed by George Steers for Commodore John Cox Stevens. The ship won the race by a lead of 20 minutes and sailed across the Isle of Wright for a 53 mile regatta.
Now you can own a piece of yacht racing history with this remarkable scale model ship made of rich cherry wood. The clear varnish finish makes the ship shine and pure wooden ornamentals located throughout the yacht help make this treasure a sight to behold.
The The America's Cup - America Yacht measures 33” L x 5.5” W x 28” H. It features wooden bunkers and stands, a wooden propeller, and large masts with fabric sails. It was built according to scale using historical documents, plans and photos by master craftsmen who spent countless hours putting each model together by hand. Each ship comes with a painted wooden stand with two wooden poles to help support it. This model requires partial assembly. The boat is assembled, but sails, rigging, and masts are laid down, resulting in a smaller shipping box, which results in less expensive shipping.
A metal plate with “America 1851” is affixed to the stand as well. The masts fold down flat for shipping so some minor assembly is required. The model yacht makes an excellent gift for any boating enthusiast or serious collector. Present it to a friend or add it to your personal collection to display with other pieces found in our Model Ships section.
