The HMS Victory was the ultimate British fighting vessel: a full rigged, 227 foot-long ship with 104 guns and 850 men when at full capacity. It was launched in 1765 and was most famous as Admiral Horatio Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The HMS Victory is also the oldest naval ship still in commission and has been restored and rests in a dry dock at Portsmouth, England.
Recapture its history by purchasing this model ship that was built to scale using the plank-on-frame construction method, similar to the building of actual ships. With the aid of historical photos, drawings and original plans, craftsmen built this model from scratch using teak, rosewood and mahogany. Exquisitely detailed, it boasts of chrome and brass fittings and ornaments that add authentic old-world charm to the model. On the ship, you will spot amazing details such as wooden bowsprit, foremast, mainmast, and mizzen mast. They are all connected to numerous fabric sails with detailed stitching. All rigging are painstakingly fastened by hand in matching colors. There’s a small wooden cabin with a wooden boat on the main deck. On the quarter deck, there’s a wooden cabin. There are wooden fences surrounding the beakdeck area toward the quarter deck area. You can easily spot a large number of metal cannons on both side of the hull, and other crafted metal parts on the front and back of the ship.
