The Dixie II defeated two British ships and an American challenger in the Harmsworth Trophy. It remains one of the last displacement-style racers. Now it is available as a FULLY ASSEMBLED model. Master craftsmen use historical photographs, drawings or original plans meticulously handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method, similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop.
The hull of this gorgeous model is made of western red cedar and mahogany. It is then beautifully finished with multiple varnish layers to give it both protection and a stunning glossy shine. The red leather seats are hand-stitched meticulously. The brass fittings really define this model, including its exhaust tips, intake, steering wheel, rudder, and reinforcements.
This model comes standard with a solid wood base and brass nameplate. For a more personalized gift or display, consider adding on a fully customized nameplate plaque with your choice of text and/or logo.
