The Bluenose II made its mark in history as a fisherman’s yacht designed to sail the rough waters off the coast of Newfoundland. It later continued to make a name for itself when it won the International Fisherman’s Trophy 17 years in row as one of the most memorable racing ships in the land.
Now you have a chance to own a piece of history with this authentic scale model of the legendary racing ship. Each replica of the Bluenose II is hand built by master craftsmen who use historical documents, plans and photographs to accurately create this stunning ship. They use the same type of plank on-frame construction that is similar to what actual shipbuilders use today.
This medium sized model of the Bluenose II measures 38” L x 33” H x 6.5” W and weighs 4.4 lbs and takes hundreds of hours to construct. The ship is painted in a rosewood color with an upper black hull. The masts and booms are yellow to match the colors of the original ship. The deck features miniature lifeboats with ribs and planks, along with wooden cabins and hatches. This model requires partial assembly. The boat is assembled, but sails, rigging, and masts are laid down, resulting in a smaller shipping box, which results in less expensive shipping.
Our model ship is secured to a wooden base for displaying and includes a brass nameplate that may be engraved. The masts and sails are folded down during shipment for easy packaging so some minimal assembly is required.
